December 2024 Newsletter 🎹🎡💾 Active Inference Institute
Welcome to the December 2024 newsletter from the Active Inference Institute.
Year in review
In December 2024: we paused from almost all regular Project meetings, reflected on the past year, and began to look towards 2025.
In whatever ways you engaged and inferred this year: thank you for your unique role in the co-creation & enaction of our growing, deepening, Active Inference ecosystem.
On December 19, we had our 4th Quarterly Roundtable meeting. This video gives the most up-to-date view on (some of) what happened around the Institute in 2024, and some directions we are orienting towards for next year.
Also see November’s newsletter to recap on the 4th Applied Active Inference Symposium proceedings, and the Institute/Ecosystem paper.
This year we collaborated to output 137 video productions in 2024. In the recent ReviewStream, Dean & Daniel reflect on these videos, year-in-review style. We would look forward to your feedback and suggestions, how we might improve our audio/visual dissemination next year, possibly with your participation.
Projects
During January 2025 we will be restarting synchronous meetings & asynchronous development on a variety of Institute Activities. More information will be provided in the coming weeks via Newsletter, DIscord, and other channels.
Till then — All projects are welcome to send in a Measurement.
To be (re-)listed as active, projects can send in a Preparation form.
Support and Engage
Donate to the Institute to support our work and sustainability in the years to come (also feel free to subscribe to or share the newsletter, or contact us with other philanthropic and grant ideas).
Please get in touch if you have general or specific feedback, ideas, or questions for Institute about this year or next.
Consider applying for the 2025 Scientific Advisory Board of Board of Directors, by January 14th, 2025.
Enjoy the end of the year, and consider how you might like to contribute to and engage with different epistemic regimes in the times to come.
